What is Magnesium?
Magnesium is a chemical element with the chemical symbol Mg. The melting point is 650 ° C and the boiling point is 1090 ° C. It is silver glossy with a density of only 1.74/cm³.
Like aluminium magnesium is light and strong. Magnesium is the third most used metal for construction purposes, after steel and aluminium. Some magnesium compounds, especially magnesium oxide, are used for components which must withstand very high temperatures. Alloys of magnesium are widely used in the production of car engine blocks where its low density is a distinct advantage.
Temponik is among very few that manufactures parts in magnesium. Due to explosion hazards when casting magnesium parts, extremely high safety precautions are taken to protect our employees. Casting is done in specially designed cages and employees wear fireproof suits.
