Challenges from Kongsberg Automotive
"Temponik’s competencies within the production of prototypes are quite unique. Traditional die casting foundries can also offer prototypes, but the methods Temponik are using leads to much better parts.
”Today we are very pleased with Temponik" says Kongsberg Automotive. Since 2010 Temponik has supplied prototypes to Kongsberg Automotive in Norway. Over the past few years the Department of Driver Control Systems, have been responsible for the development of a "servo-assisted gearshift unit" to a gearbox for trucks.
"We have been purchasing prototypes that were cast and CNC machined, but lately we have chosen to machine them ourselves." "We use prototypes for functions and lifetime testing. In the beginning of our cooperation, there were some misunderstandings, which meant that the prototypes we received were softer than standard die cast Aluminium products. But Temponik quickly addressed this issue by using T6 heat treatment."
Stig Strøm Dahl, Sales Engineer at Temponik: We are pleased to cooperate with Kongsberg, which constantly challenge our production and this helps us improving our processes. Often prototypes ordered by Kongsberg are very complex and the need for accuracy is high. Therefore we constantly need to develop our processes so that we can honor Kongsberg's requirements. This is strengthening our overall competitiveness.
